Amazing video about eating disorders and smoking

This is an amazing video by an amazing person, SupaDupaFlyGirl on Youtube. Liz really cares about people and tries to help everyone she can, and with an 18,000+ subscriber base on Youtube, she reaches a lot of people. This is a wonderful video she made about the effects of low self-esteem and eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia and smoking. These are things that effect many people every day and the world we live in unfortunately doesn't help people to feel that they are fine the way they are. Please watch and rate her 5 stars, it is well deserved.

On Sevendust's new cd "Hope and Sorrow", Chris Daughtry sings on "The Past", Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge plays on "Hope" and Myles Kennedy also of Alter Bridge sings on "Sorrow". Here is Myles singing "Sorrow" with Sevendust live. Lajon says it right, Myles is the best rock singer there is.

Alter Bridge @ The Webster Theater 7/30/08

Woooo! So Wednesday 7/30 I went to see Alter Bridge and Sevendust at the Webster Theater in Hartford, CT. Alter Bridge is one of my favorite bands and this is my 5th time seeing them and every time they are amazing. To me there is no better live band than Dream Theater, but Alter Bridge is a close second. Myles Kennedy is the best singer I've ever heard and Mark Tremonti is finally getting his due as the amazing guitarist he is. And btw, Myles is not far off as a player either.

So earlier in the day, The Rock 106.9 WCCC, the rock station in Hartford, had both bands in the Planet Of Sound studios for some acoustic performances. The station does this a lot and these POS broadcasts are always legendary. Some of the best acoustic music I've ever heard has come from these shows. Sevendust went on first and performed two songs which I uploaded here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/4vkzf5 .

Then Alter Bridge came on and performed Before Tomorrow Comes, the latest single, and Rise Today and just blew everyone away. Myles truly shines in an acoustic environment because it shows how clear and powerful his voice is. And if you can find them, I would highly suggest picking up the albums from The Mayfield Four, Myles' previous band to hear more amazing-ness, Fallout and Second Skin. Summergirl will have you rewinding over and over again. I uploaded The POS songs here also : http://www.sendspace.com/file/itfi81

Those links expire after a few days so if you read this and they are gone, email me here and I will get them to you.

I didn't care to rush to see for the opening bands so I got to the show right before Alter Bridge was supposed to go on. However the techs took forever setting up and 45 minutes later they finally got Mark's guitar working. Later there was an issue with Myles' guitar also. I didn't stay for Sevendust as it was at least 120 degrees inside and I almost passed out, and as you'll hear in the download, AB and Sevendust haven't performed their collaborations from Sevendust's "Hope and Sorrow" cd yet because they haven't had time to rehearse them yet, so I knew I wouldn't be missing that. I really like Sevendust and if there wasn't a huge delay I would have stayed longer as I have seen them before and they are very energetic. I heard there was a tech delay with them as well. I know they weren't the headliner this time but I really wish AB had played Save Me as I was very fortunate to have seen them do it the last time they were at the Webster Theater. That night I screamed it to them and they looked at each other and shrugged and smiled and said "ok!". If you haven't heard it, it's from the Elektra movie soundtrack and it is one of their best songs.

So in closing I highly higly recommend anyone go out and pick up Alter Bridge's two cds, One Day Remains and the newest Blackbird. Truly one of the best rock bands out there and by far one of the best in a live setting you will ever see.

Set list:

Alter Bridge and Sevendust acoustic show

The Rock 106.9 WCCC in Hartford, CT has a tradition that they have bands come in and do acoustic sets before their concerts that night at Planet Of Sound studios. These are legendary shows in the sense that some of the best acoustic performances these bands have ever done (Aaron Lewis, Shinedown, Zakk Wylde, etc...) have happened at these shows. Well Wednesday July 30th , before their concert at the Webster Theater, Alter Bridge and Sevendust will both be partaking in a Planet Of Sound session. Alter Bridge is probably my favorite band and I will be at the show that night. The acoustic broadcast starts at 1pm EST and will be streamed live on www.wccc.com and I urge anyone who enjoys rock music to check this out. If allowed, I will film whatever I can from the concert that night for both bands as well. I forget if they allow cameras or not. So check it out!

3 Doors Down @ New England Dodge Music Center

I posted a review of Staind a few days ago so here's 3 Doors Down. On 7/18 they headlined a show with Staind at the New England Dodge Music Center in Hartford, CT. They played 17 songs and you knew every one of them but 2 or 3 of the new ones if you don't have the newest cd, hits from beginning to end basically.

They opened with a train sound effect and the place went nuts. They have a cool drum stage setup in the middle with 3 sets of stairs. They used oyro just enough for emphasis and it worked well. This is a great band and you can tell that singer Brad Arnold is truly happy to be there and touched to have the fans react ad they do. He's a genuine guy and performer and his voice was pitch perfect no matter what he was singing. This is a band I would recommend to anyone who likes rock music. I only wished I got to see the early tour of 3DD, Alter Bridge and Shinedown a few years ago as they are 3 of my top favorite bands. Maybe someday they'll do it again....

Set list:

Staind @ the New England Dodge Music Center

Friday 7/18 I went to see Staind and 3 Doors Down at the New England Dodge Music Center in Hartford, CT. It was an amazing show. I will review 3 Doors Down next time. Hinder and Jet Black Stare opened the show before Staind came out. I don't care for either band so I got there right before Staind went on. Being a big Staind fan and also a huge fan of Aaron Lewis I knew what to expect. I had seen Staind with Nickelback and Daughtry last summer and this was no different, hits from beginning to end.

Aaron Lewis truly is one of the most talented frontmen in any rock band. If you've never seen him perform solo, you are missing the best acoustic experience you could see. He knows a hundred songs and plays all kinds of covers including Staind and his forthcoming solo material. In the middle of the concert, he came out alone and played an acoustic version of Bob Seger's Turn the Page and it brought the house down. Mike M, the guitar player, moshes hard to every song whether it's a headbanger or a ballad. Quite funny to see. The first two songs had the bass up too high and Aaron couldn't really hear well but fortunately it got fixed. If you get the chance, check out Staind live and their 6th album out in August "The Illusion Of Progress".

StickAID 2008 Charity 24 Hour Chat for UNICEF

Stickaid 2008 Press Release

http://www.justgiving.com/stickaid2008

On Saturday July 19th this year, British vlogger "Myles Dyer" (AKA Blade376), will be attempting his third 24 hour live web cam chat, which will be broadcasted to the world to raise money for the commendable charity UNICEF.

“Stickaid 2008” will take place on July 19th between 9am PDT/5pm GMT, and July 20th at 9am PDT/5pm GMT @ http://www.stickam.com/blade376

The event will be taking place on a fast expanding website called ‘Stickam.com’, in which people can create an account and broadcast themselves through web cam. They do this in their own chat room in which they can interact with others locally, and from around the world.

This will be a repeat of last year’s highly successful event where the title of STICKAID was first used. Over 250,000 people witnessed the live chat over the 24 hours, with 850 people present during the final hour to watch him complete this challenge. The target was set higher than the debut year of £500 in 2006, with it being increased to £5000. Although this target was not met, £3,337 was still raised for UNICEF, and the 2008 target has been put to £10,000. Myles explains "The thing with targets is, once they are met, people tend to stop feeling a need to donate. Therefore by raising the target to £10,000 this year, I feel we will clear last years donation total; not only because of a higher target, but because this event is going to be different, bigger, and better!"

A year on, things have progressed for Myles and his vlogging he tells us. "Well between 2006 and 2007, I had learnt a lot about what the internet has to offer, and I had gained quite a lot of exposure. However between 2007 and now, it's been surreal. I've taken part in a huge diversity of projects from TV, to politics, to education, to healthcare, and it's really opened my eyes even more to the world we live in. You learn from experience, and I think I can take a lot from this and use it to make this year's event even more successful than the previous two combined."

Myles will not be launching the event live from either, with it being confirmed that STICKAID 2008 will take place in the Stickam.com HQ, Los Angeles, California. He also wants more participation to all those that share his passion. "Last year we tried a lot of new things, such as having video content creators making 5minute interval clips for each hour that a break took place. We obtained about 10 which was good, but this year we hope to get the full set of 24 clips! It would also be great if we could get the whole front page of Stickam.com covered with other members doing the 24hour chat as well from different parts of the world, but that's something I'm currently working on getting sorted".

Donations for UNICEF through this event can go to this website at http://www.justgiving.com/stickaid2008 but Myles explains that the charitable nature of the event understands that not everyone is able to donate money, but he urges people to still be a part of this event. Myles explains; “There are some people who are unable to donate for many reasons, and that doesn’t matter. By promoting the event, being in the chat room during the 24hour chat, or perhaps joining me in completing a 24hour chat at the same time, you are being a part of this, and assisting in assuring this event is successful.’’

Myles can be contacted prior to the event by email: if there are any comments or questions. His email is Myles@thewatchers.org - MAKE SURE THE SUBJECT IS "STICKAID2008", as many emails tend to end up in his junk mail!

This fundraising activity is in aid of UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, registered charity 1072612 and has not been organised by UNICEF itself. Any views or opinions expressed during this fundraising activity are not those of UNICEF, UNICEF international, staff or partnership organisations.
